COVID-19 EVENT ENTRY POLICY

Anyone entering an OACT event MUST comply with the current Covid-19 health advice in both their home state and the ACT, as at 24 hours prior to the event. Note that while travelling, it is your responsibility to maintain physical distancing and practice good hygiene. See also the OACT Covid-19 Return to Play Plan here: http://act.orienteering.asn.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/OACT-Return-to-Play-Plan-in-a-COVID-Safe-Environment-200531.pdf

Refunds of entry fees will be considered for anyone who is unable to attend the event due to Covid-19 restrictions. Information on travel to and from the ACT can be found here: https://www.covid19.act.gov.au/community/travel

ENTRIES:

Newcomers who have not orienteered previously may enter on the day at the event. ALL OTHERS PRE-ENTRY ONLY - either by purchasing a season pass or entry to individual events via eventor. Entries close 5pm 27 October.

Season pass holders who wish to change their course/class can do so by visiting the season pass Eventor page prior to any event.

ASSEMBLY AREA:

Parking at Stromlo Forest Park Western Carpark, off Uriarra Road, 1.7km north-west of the Coaldrake Ave intersection.

There is a 500m walk from the parking to the assembly area, and a further 250m walk from the assembly area to the start. Allow enough time to get to the start before it closes at 18:30.

COURSES (length, climb):

Moderate 1 (5.6km, 175m), Moderate 2 (3.5km, 100m), Easy (2.9km, 80m), Very Easy (1.8km, 55m).

There is also a Moderate 1 Training Map for more advanced navigators looking to further improve their skills.

The Moderate 1 course is more navigationally challenging than often seen at Twilight events. It also encounters more physical terrain when compared to the Moderate 2 course. For competitors unsure about which course to enter, it is advised to do Moderate 2. The Moderate 2 course has been set to allow competitors of many physical and navigational abilities to enjoy.

TERRAIN:

Due to recent weather, the terrain will be particularly soggy, particularly around gullies and marshes. The recent rain has created a beautiful waterfall on the Moderate 1 course, but competitors on all courses should be careful around slippery rocks while enjoying the terrain. Additionally, the wet spring has allowed for the prolific growth of many tall weeds, so full body cover is recommended. This particularly affects competitors on the Moderate 1 course.

STARTS:

Between 17:00 and 18:30.

COURSE CLOSURE:

Courses close at 19:30. You MUST report to the finish by 19:30, whether you have finished your course or not.

MAP MATES JUNIOR COACHING:

In primary school, or even younger, and want to know more about orienteering? Meet at 17:10 each week at the “Blue Sparks" banner, where there will be 15 mins of orienteering skills training, to get you ready to head out and attack the course. No need to sign up, just enter the event and turn up ready to be a wild runner!

TWILIGHT TRAINING FOR GIRLS:

Training for girls in upper primary school/lower high school (ages 11-14) who are moving up to the moderate level. Four sessions will be held from 4:15pm to 4:50pm at Twilight Series events #2 - #5. Information and registration here: https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=41140
