Beginner program for newcomers of all ages

Want to Learn to Orienteer?

Join our “Learn to Orienteer” program, it’s for anyone who wants to learn to orienteer – all ages are welcome.

Seven one-hour sessions are held, once a week. Lessons are conducted in small groups. We focus on different skills and give participants plenty of opportunities to have fun exploring techniques to build confidence in using a map to navigate.

Learn to Orienteer is a national program aimed at anyone who wants to start orienteering. All ages are welcome – children, adults, and parents.

Learn to Orienteer is run twice a year in terms 2 (May – June) and 4 (October – November).

Wednesdays 4:30pm – 5:30pm (October – November)
Participants Anyone who wants to start orienteering!
All ages are welcome – children and adults.*
Cost Junior (u20) $119*, Adult $159.
Learn to Orienteer registration includes Orienteering ACT membership and a season pass to the Metro or Twilight Series (own SI-stick required after end of program).

  1. Create an Eventor account for each participant.
  2.  Visit the Learn to Orienteer sign-up page, click enter, and follow the prompts to sign up and pay.

First sessions are held in Weston Park, Yarralumla. Later sessions are co-located with Orienteering ACT’s Metro Series (May – June), or Twilight Series (October – March).
Enquiries

*Each participant under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian present for the session, and we encourage parents/carers’ to participate. The activities will be designed so that parents/guardians can join in as well, learn to orienteer and have fun with us.
