MAP: Awoonga, 1:10,000, 5m contours.

ENTRIES: Pre-entry only. Entries close 11:59pm Wednesday 26 August. This is not a joke – NO late entries and NO Enter on the Day.

COURSES (length, climb):

Hard 1 (10.7km, 430m), Hard 2 (8.2km, 345m), Hard 3 (5.3km, 185m), Hard 4 (2.8km, 80m), Moderate 1 (4.6km, 150m), Moderate 2 (3.1km, 100m), Easy (2.4km, 45m), Very Easy (1.5km, 35m).

COURSE SETTER'S NOTES:

The terrain is spur gully and generally quite runnable and fast. There are some steep parts near the river, but only some longer courses go there. There are fences that need to be crossed. These are crossable apart from a double stranded fence(s) running east/west across the map. Where this fence is crossable the crossing symbol appears on the map. Some broken fences are indistinct on the ground. Avoid tripping on wire. Termite mounds are in active generation and decay. Care should be taken with navigation by termite mounds mid leg. The river crossings shown on the Hard 1 and Hard 2 courses are not mandatory but show where the river can be crossed most easily and safely.

DIRECTIONS:

Proceed on the Federal Highway from Canberra towards Lake George and immediately before the escarpment (at the Weereewa lookout) turn left into Hadlow Drive (the old highway) then after about 200m turn right into Ridge Road which is a somewhat eroded dirt road. After 550m turn left immediately after the cattle grid into Nerrin Lane and follow it for 2.1 km. Nerrin Lane is a private road leading the private property where the assembly is located. While this is 2WD negotiable, please drive slowly and take care as it is a gravel road with some steep sections and sharp turns, and one downhill part has loose stones which can be slippery. A gold coin donation for the land holder will be sought on arrival at the assembly.

ASSEMBLY: Adjacent to the parking.

TOILETS: No toilets will be provided at the assembly area. Nearest public toilets are at the Anderson VC Rest Area at the Federal Highway turn off (approximately 3km from the assembly area).

STARTS: Between 10:00 and 12:00. Queuing starts. Start is 250m from the assembly area.

COURSE CLOSURE: Courses close at 14:00 (2:00pm). You MUST report to the finish by 14:00, whether you have finished your course or not.
