Orienteers must not enter embargoed areas without the express written permission of the Orienteering ACT Board and event organiser. For further information please contact the OACT Office. Exact locations and boundaries of embargoed areas can be viewed on the map below.
These embargoes should be interpreted in the context of the Orienteering Australia rules and the International Orienteering Federation Fair Play Principles:
- OA Rule 26.5: “Any attempt to survey or train in the competition terrain is forbidden, unless explicitly permitted by the organiser.”
- IOF Fair Play resolution: “Fair Play in orienteering includes understanding and respecting the wonder of a new challenge to be met and overcome at each competition. Unfair advantage gained through advance knowledge of the terrain, map or course elements can have a significant impact on competitive results and are an attack on the core values of our sport.”
