Looking for a fun way to get active and outdoors? Join us to come and try orienteering. It’s the perfect way to experience the thrill of running, navigating, and solving clues in nature—no previous experience needed!
Discover Orienteering is a come and try event aimed at anyone who wants to give orienteering a go – all ages are welcome. You’ll be given the opportunity to try real orienteering courses in a safe, welcoming environment, surrounded by people with similar experience levels and a team of enthusiastic helpers.
WHAT IS ORIENTEERING?
Orienteering is an exciting outdoor adventure where you’ll use a map to navigate your way to checkpoints. Whether you run, jog, or walk, it’s all up to you! It’s a great way to challenge yourself, learn, have fun, and make new friends—all while getting active and exploring the world around you!
At this Discover Orienteering event, you will: Learn 5 helpful hints for map navigation. Complete your first orienteering course! Have the opportunity to progress at your own pace. Meet new people and participate in fun, social activities. Be guided how to take the next steps in your orienteering journey.
EVENT DETAILS
When: 5:00pm – 7:00pm, Wednesday 8 October 2025
Where: Weston Park, Yarralumla
Cost: $12 per participant.
Who: Anyone who wants to try orienteering! All ages are welcome – children and adults*. Target group is 8 – 99 year olds.
*Each participant under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian present during the event, and we encourage parents/carers to participate. The activities will be designed so that parents/guardians can participate with children and have fun with us. Each attending family member should register.
