FIRST TIMERS:
Street orienteering is a great introduction to orienteering and first timers and groups of 2 or more are most welcome to participate as teams. You can walk, run, or mix walking and running. You visit the controls in any order, unlike other orienteering events where you follow a course in numerical order. There is a first timers briefing at the assembly area between 4pm and 6pm on Monday. You can either download the MapRun app to complete a course or do a self-timed course and report the result.
For more information on installing and using the MapRun app, see: https://sites.google.com/view/maprun-canberra/intro This information includes instructions on how to review your result and amend it if MapRun fails to register at a control you definitely visited.
ENTRY:
Pre-entry on Eventor via the season pass or individual event entry is strongly recommended.

The MapRun event name is 'Evatt OACT Jun 2025 SA'.
RESULTS:
If using MapRun (preferred), you must upload your result on MapRun at the latest by 7.30pm on Monday.
If recording your result manually (name, course, controls visited, time taken, distance covered), you must do so on the recording sheet on Monday afternoon or email the result to John Harding (jgh2009@gmail.com) ASAP from Thursday-Monday, and by 7.30pm Monday at the latest.
MAP:
Either download from Eventor (see below) or collect a printed map at the assembly area between 4pm and 6pm.
SAFETY:
Hazards include fallen leaves and acorns, road crossings and unmapped fences in parkland.
Headlamp or torch needed if starting or finishing in darkness.
Underpasses: There are a number of underpasses on the map on major walking/cycling routes. Copland Drive, running N-S down the centre of the map, is most safely crossed via underpasses between controls 2 & 3, 13 & 25, and 11 & 12.
Note on hazards: Evatt, Spence, and Melba are older suburbs and some of the paving on footpaths and walkways is very rough and uneven. Trip hazards – watch your step!
