AREA DESCRIPTION:

A large granite covered ridge. The steeper western slopes and top of the ridge are covered in very detailed granite outcrops and large boulders. The eastern side is less steep with scattered rock outcrops and areas of erosion.

ENTRIES:

Pre-entry only. Entries close 11:59pm Wednesday 30 July.

No entry on the day.

COURSES (length/climb, exact details to be confirmed but are provided as good approximations):

Hard 1 (6.7km, 350m), Hard 2 (5.1km, 275m), Hard 3 (4.4km, 200m), Hard 4 (3.9km, 140m), Hard 5 (2.5km, 100m), Moderate 1 (3.5km, 80m), Moderate 2 (2.5km, 65m), Easy (1.4km, 60m), Very Easy (1km, 10m).

One water point will be available on all hard courses

COURSE SETTER'S NOTES:

The map has both steep detailed granite and open spur gully. It is fairly runnable, with sections of thick bracken which most courses try to avoid. The courses are relay length and style, with multiple controls in small areas - so check your control descriptions and numbers. Hard 5, Moderate 2 and Easy and Very Easy courses minimise climb and steep terrain. 

STARTS:

Between 10 and 12. Queuing starts. The start is 400m from the assembly area and 600m from parking.

COURSE CLOSURE:

Courses close at 14:00 (2:00pm). You must report to the finish by 14:00, whether you have finished your course or not.

DIRECTIONS:

The Gib is the beautiful, granite strewn hill you see on your right as you leave Bungendore to the east.

From Canberra, drive through Bungendore and continue on the Kings Highway for 4.6km. Watch for O signs and take care turning right across the Kings Highway. 400m past the turnoff to the Bungendore Rodeo turnoff take the right hand turn into a small lane. Follow this lane for 700m. Parking will be on the right, through a gate and into the paddock, parking along the fence.

Parking space is limited so please car-pool if possible.

Allow 45 minutes from central Canberra.
