Note that while travelling, it is your responsibility to maintain physical distancing and practice good hygiene. See also the OACT Covid-19 Return to Play Plan here: http://act.orienteering.asn.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/OACT-Return-to-Play-Plan-in-a-COVID-Safe-Environment-200531.pdf

Refunds of entry fees will be considered for anyone who is unable to attend the event due to Covid-19 restrictions. Information on travel to and from the ACT can be found here: https://www.covid19.act.gov.au/community/travel

ENTRIES:

Newcomers who have not orienteered previously may enter on the day at the event. ALL OTHERS PRE-ENTRY ONLY - either by purchasing a season pass or entry to individual events via eventor. Entries close 5pm 24 November.

Season pass holders who wish to change their course/class can do so by visiting the season pass Eventor page prior to any event.

ASSEMBLY:

Stromlo Bushfire Memorial, off Swallowtail Rd, Wright.

PARKING:

Parking at the Bushfire Memorial and its access road is very limited. Please park either at the main Stromlo Forest Park car park (10 mins walk) or on streets in nearby Wright (5-10 mins walk). Do not park in the bike lanes on Swallowtail Road.

COURSES:

Moderate 1 (4.8km), Moderate 2 (3.5km), Easy (2.5km), Very Easy (1.5km).

COURSE SETTER NOTES:

Map scale is 1:4000

Moderate 1 and 2 courses both have a map flip.

Moderate courses are arranged to have an A and B option. Find a partner and go head to head if you want to or just choose flip a coin and choose a course.

The criterium track is marked as out of bounds as there is racing on Wednesday evening. Crossing the cycle track is strictly prohibited - orienteers do not make good speed bumps.

Moderate courses have a number of crossings of Holden’s creek. The marked crossings in the northern section (first side of map) have been hard to cross without getting wet feet in previous visits however there is a bridge alternate option for these routes. The track crossings of the creek in the southern section are generally fairly shallow – take your chances anywhere else!

Grass/weeds are not too bad except for a few areas on the northern part of the moderate 1 course. Be careful of rough ground underfoot in those weedy sections.

STARTS:

Between 17:00 and 18:30.

COURSE CLOSURE:

Courses close at 19:30. You MUST report to the finish by 19:30, whether you have finished your course or not.

LIVE RESULTS:

Available online (https://liveresultat.orientering.se/?lang=en), or via the LiveOL app for iOS and Android.

MAP MATES JUNIOR COACHING:

In primary school, or even younger, and want to know more about orienteering? Meet at 17:10 each week at the “Blue Sparks" banner, where there will be 15 mins of orienteering skills training, to get you ready to head out and attack the course. No need to sign up, just enter the event and turn up ready to be a wild runner!
