2025 Orienteering ACT Event Calendar Now Available

The calendar of Orienteering ACT events for 2025, has now been published.

The 2025 season will open with a Sprint Series of eight events held on Sunday mornings starting 19 January. Sprint Series event locations are yet to be confirmed and will be published soon. The Sprint Series events will provide good practise for the the 2025 ACT Sprint Championships, which will be held one week after the conclusion of the Series, at an exciting new map of the Australian National Botanic Gardens.

The Runners Shop Twilight Series will resume from its festive season hiatus on Wednesday 5 February, and continue on every Wednesday evening until the Series finale on 5 March at Commonwealth Park, which will be followed by the 2024 OACT Annual Awards presentations.

The popular ACT Metro Series (including the ACT Junior league) will be held on Saturday mornings commencing 3 May and continuing through to the final event on 16 August. The ACT Schools Championships and Blue Lightning Super Sprints will also take place on Saturday mornings in August and September, after the end of the regular Metro Series.

The 2025 ACT Classic Series, incorporating the ACT League, will return to the forest on 23 March with the ACT Relays to be held at Mt Mugga Mugga. A highlight of the season will be the 2025 ACT Middle and Long Distance Championships, which are combined ACT League and NSW State League events. The Championships are being held in the early part of the 2025 season on 5-6 April and will be based in Cooma. The Middle Distance Championships will be on a highly technical new map near to Cooma town centre, and the Long Distance Championships will see a return to the Highlands map used for the 2023 Australian 3-Days near Nimmitabel.

Other Classic Series events are scheduled for Tidbinbilla, Picaree Hill, and Glendale. On 23-24 August there is a double header weekend run by Orienteering NSW in conjunction with the NSW Schools Championships in the Southern Highlands that will count towards the ACT League.

On top of all that, there will be Mountain Bike Orienteering and Ski Orienteering events, and the Midweek Series of Wednesday lunch time events is expected to run from May to September, in addition to the MapRun Street Series on Monday evenings throughout the year.
