Course Setter’s Notes

The vegetation mapping has been updated based on 2020 Lidar data. Areas of dark green near creeks and gullies and on the lower slopes are blackberry and impossible to pass through. Dark green on the upper slopes can be slow with low visibility but generally not particularly prickly.

Most of the older vehicle tracks are now overgrown and have been removed from the map. There are numerous animal tracks that have not been mapped.

Sheep grazing and the cooler weather have knocked down most of the grass though there are occasional sections of longer grass. Many of the gullies are wet and muddy particularly on the lower slopes. There are occasional thistles and stray blackberry stems which may affect your choice of leg protection.

Course lengths are shorter than usual due to the amount of climb and physical terrain. There is a 750m walk with 70m climb to the starts for the Hard and Moderate courses via a 500m walk to the start for the Easy and Very Easy courses.
