Street orienteering is a fun way to get fit and practise orienteering skills. It is open to both walkers and runners.

Beginners and first timers and not-so-fit people are especially encouraged. It can be done as an individual or in groups of 2 or more, and is a great navigation activity for scouts.

Family groups and teams of secondary school students are most welcome. Please bring a friend and participate.

Street Series events make use of the free MapRun smartphone app for GPS based punching and timing. Information on how to use MapRun is available here.

The MapRun course is open from 6am on Thursday and participants can do their course any time from then until 6.15pm on Monday. Assistance is provided at the assembly area from 5.30pm to 6.15pm on Mondays for first timers and for persons not using MapRun to self time and report their result. The course map (in colour) is available for download on each event information page. Persons who are unable to access MapRun on their phones can use an honesty system to self time their start and finish and visit the controls on their course then record their result.

Pre-entry using Eventor is required for all participants – either by purchasing a season pass or entry to individual events. Entries are open until 12 noon on the Monday of each event.

Street Series Course Planning and Organising

Course setting and organisation for street orienteering events is relatively easy, especially if doing so for a suburb close to home. All regular participants are encouraged to volunteer periodically (unless you are already heavily involved in organising other orienteering events).
