Course Setter’s Notes

The Gib is the beautiful, granite strewn hill you see on your right as you leave Bungendore to the east.

There has been some vegetation growth since the map was last updated. Avoid dark green areas and be aware that white/runnable forest may have some areas of slower running.

There are numerous animal tracks that are not marked on the map but may provide passage through greener sections

During course setting we came across wombats, euros, wallabies and kangaroos. So watch for wombat holes and look out for and enjoy these critters.

There are cattle on the eastern side of the map. They are more afraid of us than we are of them, and should keep their distance, but please be sensible around livestock.

There are also broken fences, so watch for these.

The map has both steep detailed granite and open spur gully. It is fairly runnable, with sections of thick bracken which most courses try to avoid. The courses are relay length and style, with multiple controls in small areas – so check your control descriptions and numbers. Hard 5, Moderate 2 and Easy and Very Easy courses minimise climb and steep terrain.
