Autumn SC-ORE 2024 is now over after four wonderful events at Hughes PS, Curtin PS, Eddison Park and Forrest PS respectively. There were fifteen teams with 60+ students from 8 primary schools and home educated starting the days with navigation and running before school.
It has been great to see so many children enthusiastically taking on the orienteering challenges each week, many of them for the very first time. Eddison Park proved especially tricky with sharp turns and no school buildings to navigate around. There were some mispunches, but not as many as one could have thought. It was clear that most children really checked the code numbers before punching, relocated themselves on the map and continued to the correct control – Impressive!
Thank you again all children for your energy and enthusiasm, parent helpers for your time, support and positive attitude, all OACT volunteers for being such a positive and reliable team and our host schools for your assistance and welcoming attitude.
Well done to all the SC-ORE teams and a special congratulations to the top three place getters:
- 1st Majura Primary School (Team A): Evelyn Mendl, Jack Foley, Tyrus Balint and Isla Cockburn
- 2nd Majura Primary School (Team B): Tessa Radajewski, Austin Henderson, Angus Bishop and Annika Back
- 3rd Aranda Primary School (Team A): Layla Dent, Sam Huxham, Banjo Bluett-Jones and Veronika Iskhakova

Spring SC-ORE 2024 will be held northside, and Entries will open in August. Keep an eye on your email and on OACT’s website for details.
We hope that SC-ORE has sparked an interest in orienteering and that we will see many SC-ORE participants at our events in a near future. If you are keen to learn more, our Learn to Orienteer Program might be something for you.
