Report on Classic Series: ACT League #4, Isaacs Ridge

A pleasantly warm and sunny day welcomed 69 competitors to Isaacs Ridge on Sunday 30 July. Nine courses were available on diverse terrain, including the steep sided ridge itself with boulders, knolls and watercourses, and the lower footslopes containing various features. Competitors put in some solid efforts on the day.

One control used by the Hard 1, 2 and 3 courses, which had been hung from a large pine tree, was unfortunately hidden by said tree being chainsawed down in the time between control checking and Sunday morning. Keen orienteer Kelvin Meng managed to uncover it in the fallen mess and it was rehung, but only after some competitors had searched in vain. Thanks to competitors for doing their best in an unexpected situation.

In accordance with orienteering rules the event controller has assessed courses Hard 1, 2 and 3 are unfair and hence void. Results will stand as published here. Given that 3 out of the 5 Hard courses are void, the OACT Board has decided that this event will not count towards ACT League points table.

Thanks to David Poland (course setter), Toni Brown (controller), Scott Wilkinson (organiser), and all the volunteers on the day for this event.
