Martin Dent Surges to the Lead

Martin Dent surged through the long grass at Mt Majura to record the fastest time of 32 min 12 sec for the 5.8 km Moderate 1 course, which with his age/gender handicap factor 0.9100 converted to a km rate of 5 min 02.60 sec, the fastest for the race.

The placings in the two Moderate courses were:

  • Moderate 1: 5.8 km: 13 controls: 1. Men: Martin Dent 32:12, 2. Paul de Jongh 34:41, 3. Matt Doyle 35:08; Women: 1. Shannon Jones 48:46, 2. Justine Hobson 51:42, 3. Katherine Maundrell 60:22.
  • Moderate 2: 3.4 km: 10 controls: Men: 1. David Stocks 20:47, 2. Andrew Kerr 23:42, 3. Hayden Dent 28:19; Women: 1. Kathie Dent 34:06, 2. Mira Walter 35:51, 3. Ella Hogg 35:58.

After the handicap factors were applied Martin Dent with a corrected kilometre rate of 5 min 02.60 sec about 39 seconds faster than David Stocks, with a further 16.5 seconds to Paul de Jongh. The top 10 corrected time were:
