Pictured (L to R): Matt Doyle, Geoff Lawford, Jenny Bourne

Matt Doyle demonstrated he is in good shape leading up to the Australian Championships starting in Victoria on 24 September with an outstanding run in the ACT League race on Stringybark Hill, Jerrabomberra, on Sunday. Doyle easily coped with the area’s steep hillsides, which are covered mainly with patches of thick undergrowth, to complete his 6.2 km course in 49 min 44 Sec, which converts to a km rate of 8 min 1.19 sec. Being a male, aged 21 to 34, his km rate is not adjusted under the competition’s age/gender handicap rules. Next best on handicap were Geoff Lawford with a km rate of 8 min 34.49 sec and six times League winner, Jenny Bourne with a km rate of 8 min 36.52 sec. The top three are all members of the Abomidables club.
