Orienteering ACT was pleased to receive advice from Sport & Rec ACT the CBR Cockatoos would receive an allocation from the ACT Government Performance Sponsorship Program for 2021-22, for teams competing in National League competitions. ACT Government sponsorship of the CBR Cockatoos began in 2002-03. The Government’s continued support has enabled the CBR Cockatoos teams and individual team members to dominate the National Orienteering League since the competition began in 1994.

2021 was a notable year for the CBR Cockatoos, with the Senior Women’s team coming from behind to win its division and Grace Crane did the same to win the Senior Women’s individual division. On the basis of its win, the Senior Women’s team was a finalist for the Team of the Year award in the 2021 CBR Sport Awards.

The CBR Cockatoos are looking forward to 2022, with another home round over the weekend of 2-3 April. The events will be a Middle Distance race on Gibraltar Hill, just east of Bungendore, on 2 April and a Long Distance race at Birkenburn, about 20 kms east of Bungendore, on 3 April.
