After missing a control at Mt Ainslie two weeks ago and not being at Campbell Park last week, Hayden Dent bounced back to win his second event in the 2021-22 Runners Shop Twilight Series, and record his third win this year. His remarkable successes are similar to those recorded by Rebecca Minty many years ago and more recently, by Zoe Melhuish, in ACT League races. Even without the benefit of his age/gender handicap factor, Dent’s result on the Moderate 2 course was notable.
The across the line results, for the two Moderate courses, were:
Moderate 1: 5.0 km: 210 metres climb: 15 controls: Men: 1. Matthew Crane 31 min 23 sec, 2. David Stocks 32 min 28 sec, 3. Paul de Jongh 26 min 23 sec; Women: 1. Grace Crane 41 min 42 sec, 2. Elise Palethorpe 46 min 57 sec, 3. Shannon Jones 47 min 04 sec.
Moderate 2: 3.4 km: 120 metres climb: 11 controls: Men: 1. Andrew Kerr 24 min 26 sec, 2. Hayden Dent 25 min 10 sec, 3 Elye Dent 27 min 07 sec; Women: 1. Cath Chalmers 34 min 13 sec, Alice Radajewski 35 min 59 sec, Carys Connick 38 min 12 sec.

After the handicap factors were applied, Hayden Dent was a clear winner by 43 seconds per kilometre, but just 0.54 seconds per km separated second-placed Matt Crane from third placed David Stocks. Note that the Dents and Cranes filled five of the six placings. The top 10 competitors in Race 5 were:
