There are lots of resources online. We are always keen to see the number of accredited coaches grow across all levels. If you would like to know more check out the websites below.
The first step to becoming a coach is Level 0 – you start with the free online Sports Australia Community Coaching certificate course, takes about 3-4 hours (you can save and go back to it) you will also need to obtain a Working With Vulnerable People card. The Level O course is ideal for coaches that wish to introduce newcomers to the sport of orienteering. It may be through street and urban orienteering or possibly introductory programs at schools. The forms at OACT coaching page for Level 0 are available here.
For all other levels – Orienteering Australia has just updated the syllabus, including the forms to apply for these, and the process for recognition of prior learning activities. Visit the OA coaching webpage and scroll down to the syllabus for more info on each level:
If there is interest we will hold a coaching workshop in early December – please email Nic Plunkett-Cole at to register your interest. Note that you will need to obtain the coaching certificate and WWVP card beforehand.
