Focus on Girls (FOG) wrapped up last week with a bout of laughing, learning and lolling about, ice blocks in hand! It was hot but we learnt a lot!
11 girls and around 8 parents joined in this season’s Focus on Girls series.
The route choice to FOG is many and varied. This series the group included two introduced through a Sporting Schools program (Bonython, thanks Maria!), three from Trinity Christian School seeking a new skill as part of Duke of Edinburgh (using FOG and Street O), three Radford girls seeking ongoing coaching through the off season, one from SCORE, one from Map Mates plus, and a couple of complete newbies! What a lovely mix! It is possible to bundle them all up and deliver something worthwhile!
Structured sessions with defined learning outcomes gave the more advanced the chance to assess their understanding. Lots of support from Maria, Jane B and Toni meant the newer, and especially parents, could learn along at a manageable pace.
If you know of any girls 9-14 years keen to give orienteering a go, or seeking coaching fun next series starts 28 March – SIGN UP HERE NOW!
