Canberra orienteers enjoyed perfect weather for ACT Midweek event # 11 on the western slopes of Black Mountain in the shadow of Telstra Tower. It was a cloudless 12C degree day. Organiser and course planner Tim Cox prepared excellent courses that gave competitors a number of options for negotiating the numerous, deep erosion gullies.
The event attracted 35 participants which included a number of juniors enjoying the school holidays and a cameo appearance from world-renown masters MTB orienteer Carolyn Jackson. The Miller family enjoyed a good day out with Tristan Miller recording the fastest time of 32:00 min for 5.0 km Orange 1 course and his dad Peter was fastest on the 3.6 km Orange 2 course in a time of 36min 52sec. The full results are here and the maps and photos are here.
Remember there is no Metro Series this Saturday. The next two events are:
- ACT League # 9 on Sunday 24 July at Mt Jerrabomberra
- ACT Midweek #12 on Wednesday 27 July at Lyneham North
