Zoe Melhuish has followed up her victory in the 2017 ACT League with a close win in the 2017-18 Runners Shop Twilight Series.
Both competitions are a series of events for competitors on the hardest standard of courses, with kilometre rates adjusted to take account of competitors’ age and gender. Competitors are then scored in order of their corrected km rates. Points are awarded from 125 downwards and the final scores are based on half the number of events plus one. There were to have been 15 events 2017-18 Runners Shop Twilight Series, but the first event was not scored and another had to cancelled because of a fire ban.
Melhuish scored 868 points for her best seven scores from 13 events (max possible 875), just three ahead of Martin Dent (865). The top competitors, all pictured below, were:
