Double to Cockatoos Women

Canberra Cockatoos women took out the double in National Orienteering League race 6, a Middle Distance even in southern Tasmania on Saturday.

Tara Melhuish backed up for her second win in two days in the Junior Women’s division, clocking 24 min 41 sec for her 3.0 km course.  Zoe Dowling was the runner up again and with two more Tassie Foresters just behind her, they would have taken out the Teams’ division.

Charlotte Watson won the Senior Women’s division with a time of 36 min 16 sec for her 4.7 km course, 43 seconds ahead of Southern Arrows Bridget Anderson.  Belinda Lawford was fourth again, 2 mins 50 secs behind Watson.  The combined time of Watson, Lawford and Tamsin Moran should have been fast enough to secure the max points for their team.

Southern Arrows Simon Uppill won the Senior Men’s race, but the combined time of Matt Crane (2nd), Matt Doyle (4th) and Martin Dent (8th) should have been fast enough to win the Teams’ Division.

The combined time of Robin Mennet (4th), Patrick Miller (5th), and Tristan Miller (10th) should also have been  good enough to win Junior Men’s division.
