Important Information for the Upcoming Metro Series

This year’s Metro Series will be run a bit differently to previous event series, here are all the important changes that you need to know about.

Event Timing

As a COVID-19 preventative measure each Metro Series event has been split into two events, held at the same location, on the same day. Events A will have start time window 9.30am – 10.45am; Events B will have start time 11.00am – 12.15pm. Course closure 1pm.

Each A and B event will be capped at a total of 100 participants.

Event Entry

Pre-entry via Eventor is mandatory for all upcoming Metro Series events.

Newcomers who have not orienteered previously may enter on the day at events. All others must pre-enter, either by purchasing a season pass, or by entering individual events via eventor.

The cap of 100 entries has already been reached by the Event A Season Pass. No further entries will be accepted to the Event A Season Pass or to individual Events A. Entries are still available for the Event B Season Pass, or to individual Events B.

Season Pass and individual event entries will close at 11:59pm on the Friday before each event. No entries will be accepted after this time.

Course Selection

You must pre-enter the course/class that you wish to complete, course/class changes cannot be made at events.

Course lengths will be published on the respective event information pages in the week prior to each event.

Season Pass holders may change their course/class selection prior to any event in the series. To do so:

  1. Login to Eventor and visit your applicable season pass page:
  2. Click ‘Change entry’.
  3. Select your new course/class from the drop-down list.
  4. Follow the prompts to confirm the changes.

Course/class changes must be completed by 11:59pm on the Friday before each event.

Individual event entrants must ensure that they select the correct course/class when entering each event.

Contactless Punching

Contactless punching, commonly known as SI Air, will be available at all events. To take advantage of contactless punching you must use a SPORTident ActiveCard (SIAC stick). The use of a SIAC stick is highly recommended for all competitors, however it is not compulsory.

Conventional SI sticks can still be used, in the normal fashion with direct punching.

More information on SI Air is available here.

At the Event

There will be no registration at the event, nor do you need to check-in at the computer before your run. Instead, please proceed straight to the start, there you will clear, check, be marked off the entry list, and be given your map.

Download at the computer once you have finished. Splits printouts will not be provided.

Participants should also note the other rules outlined in the OACT Return to Play Plan. These include maintaining physical distancing of 1.5m to other people, including at the assembly area, when approaching controls on course, and when queuing at the start and computer download.
