As the competition approaches the halfway mark, Matt Crane has the narrowest of leads in the 2021 ACT League, which he won in 2020 and three times previously. The two most recent events were held on the Broulee Dunes over the weekend of 15-16 May. Event 5 was a Middle Distance event for all classes on Broulee Dunes on Saturday 15 May and Event 6 was a Relay (of Middle Distance lengths) for elites and a Middle Distance event for all other classes. To avoid all elite competitors being disadvantaged through missing a high-profile event, the courses for Relays and the individual results were added to the Middle Distance event.
Event 5 was the first use of the map and for those who had never run on sand dunes maps, the extra challenge led to some longer than usual finish times. The results are here and the maps and photos are here.
The top five on the day, all competitors in the elite classes, were:
Competitor | Handicap | Corrected times |
Grant Bluett | 0.8500 | 5 min 56.00 sec |
David Stocks | 0.9100 | 6 min 18.24 sec |
Grace Crane | 0.7680 | 6 min 37.49 sec |
Matthew Crane | 0.9400 | 6 min 43.28 sec |
Gareth Candy | 0.9200 | 6 min 48.59 sec |
With the benefit of the previous days experience the results were closer, but the corrected times were much slower. The results are here and here, and the some photos are here. The top five, including a couple of veteran competitors, were:
Competitor | Handicap | Corrected times |
Matthew Crane | 0.9400 | 7 min 00.93 sec |
Darryl Erbacher | 0.5200 | 7 min 03.17 sec |
Ryan Stocks | 1.0000 | 7 min 14.60 sec |
John Scown | 0.6520 | 7 min 15.01 sec |
Matt Doyle | 1.0000 | 7 min 15.80 sec |
After the standings were updated with the scores from events 5 and 6, {both of which carried a 10% loading) the top five best three scores from five events are:
- 1 Matthew Crane AO A 408
- 2 Grant Bluett AO A 407
- 3 Martin Dent RR A 399
- 4 David Stocks BS A 395
- 5 Ryan Stocks BS A 394
The next ACT League event (event 6) will be the 2021 Jim Sawkins Memorial Handicap on Stringybark Hill, a new map of the southern part of Mt Jerrabomberra on 6 June. Entries close on Wednesday 2 June.
