COURSE SETTER NOTES:
Boboyan Divide is one of the few parts of Namadgi National Park which was not burnt during the 2020 fires. As a result, the forest is mostly runnable with some greener area on steeper and higher hills. This map has a mix of wide open valleys, clear marshes and forested hills. Most of the forested parts of the map are well-endowed with large granite boulders. The longest courses include significant sections in thicker, steeper forest, although recent LIDAR mapping of the vegetation should help you to avoid the thickest parts. Courses have been set to make the most of the variety of terrain offered by this map.
In general you should expect that small tracks and ruined fences may be hard to find, tussocky grass is longer than normal, marshes are wetter than normal and creeks are deeper than normal.
Map scale is 1:10,000 for all courses.
The parking, arena, start and finish are in close proximity, adjacent to Boboyan Rd.
Competitors should remember that this region is elevated — the arena is at an altitude of 1200m. Even early in the season this area can be cold, so please be prepared.
Due to COVID risk, water will not be provided — even for the longest courses. We recommend competitors carry their own water.
Please ensure all shoes and clothing are thoroughly cleaned and free of any grass seeds prior to the event.
STARTS:
Between 10:00 and 12:00. Queuing starts.
COURSE CLOSURE:
Courses close at 14:00 (2:00pm). You MUST report to the finish by 14:00, whether you have finished your course or not.
DIRECTIONS:
Travel to Tharwa, then go south on Naas Rd, which is sign-posted to Adaminaby. Continue south on Naas Rd, which becomes Boboyan Rd, for 50km to the event parking area. The last 19km of this road is unsealed, take care. Allow 90 minutes from the centre of Canberra.
