Event Notes

The Metro Series is held in parkland and nature parks close to Canberra. Everyone is welcome and courses are available to suit a wide range of orienteering experience from novice to the more experienced. Courses range from 2km to 5km and very easy to medium navigation difficulty. A ‘Help’ person will be available to provide assistance at the event. Just turn up, no requirement to book ahead.

Enter-on-the-day. Start anytime between 10.30 and 12 noon. Course closure 1pm. Entry fees - member adult $10, member junior $7. $10 non-member juniors and $15 non-member adults. Hire of an electronic timing chip (sportident card) is $5. Cash payment accepted but EFTPOS preferred.

The ACT Saturday Series includes the ACT Junior League competition.

ASSEMBLY AREA: Parking is in La Trobe park and along Bedford Street, Deakin. Please park only on the southern side of the street, opposite the houses. Follow signs to the arena (~500m).

COURSES: Orange 1 (2.6km), Orange 2 (2.0km), Green (1.4km), Blue (1.0km).

NOTES: The map is tiny (around 300m x 300m) and there will be many competitors, so please take care running around corners. There are a few artificial fences on course, do not go through them (they are there for a reason). There is a map flip on both orange courses. Orange courses will have a blind queuing start, competitors will be set off at 1 minute intervals. Blue and Green entrants will be allowed to collect their maps at registration. There is a 30m taped route from the map collection point to the start triangle, the start punch will be at the map collection point.
