This item profiles Parawangan and ACT Cockatoos representative Chris Helliwell. Chris has had a very successful summer series and is on track for a top 10 finish. His best results so far this year are scoring 123 points at Wanniassa Hills, 122 at ANU and 121 at Aranda Hills.

Ann Ingwersen Elected as Parawanga Orienteering Club President

At the 2010 Annual General Meeting the Parawanga Orienteering Club members elected Ann Ingwersen as the Club President taking over from Darryl Erbacher. Ann is a highly accomplished orienteer and well known to many ACT orienteers. For those who would like to read more about Ann, she is the latest Parawangan to be profiled.

Many Parawangan orienteers ventured south to Victoria for the Australian Championships held in early October. The final event of the carnival was the Australian Relay Championships, in which state-based teams of three compete for the honours of being relay champions.

Parawangans from the Past - Bruce Rennie. Where Is He Now?

Bruce Rennie, a Parawangan from the 1970s returned as an honorary Parawangan for his time at the recent World Masters Orienteering Championships. Bruce, representing Canada, competed in the World Master’s Event Sprint Race on his old University grounds and then at the Long Course Championships at Lithgow in the M55 class.

A large contingent of 30 Parawangans journeyed across Bass Strait recently to compete in the TasE 2009 Easter 3 Day Orienteering Carnival. They were very successful, coming 2nd in the Champion Club Trophy and were the leading non-Tasmanian club.

The Hyslop family and Pat Miethke were worthy recipients of the 2008 Parawanga Orienteering Club awards. The Hyslops were awarded the Blue Man trophy and Pat received the Snail Trophy.
