Blue sparks – activities for primary school kids.
Blue sparks are a group of primary school age kids and their parents that are involved in orienteering in the ACT. The aim is to get together, make friends, learn more about orienteering and have fun.
Aim
The Blue Sparks are a group of primary school age kids and their parents who get together to provide a range of activities to have fun, get to know others in the sport and learn more about orienteering. Those who take part in Blue Sparks can be new to the sport or long time participants.
Activities
At the moment activities are centred on the Saturday events during winter and generally run between 11 and 12 as long as the weather is not too awful. But as the kids and their parents get to know each other they socialise and interact at other events too. We have also had some great weekends away.
Some of the activities we do are:
➢ Porridge orienteering
➢ Map drawing
➢ Setting up little courses for kids and their parents
➢ Orienteering memory game
➢ Soccer, chess, chasings…
➢ Having a great time…
Communication
We communicate by a weekly email during the winter. If you want to be on the email list contact Chris of David (details below) or email Orienteering ACT.
