Seven points cover the top four placings in the 2018-19 Runners Shop Twilight Series at the Christmas break. Martin Dent was able to extend his lead over junior David Stocks by a point after round 9 of the Series around the top of Red Hill. Dent has won four of the nine events on corrected time in the age/gender handicap series to amass 622 points from his best five scores to lead Stocks on 618, by four points. Next best is another junior Andrew Kerr on 617, and Toni Brown on 615 points rounds out the top four. Ella Cuthbert is fifth on 610 and the last series winner Zoe Melhuish is sixth on 606 points. Pictured clockwise from the top left are Martin Dent, David Stocks, Andrew Kerr, Zoe Melhuish, Ella Cuthbert and Toni Brown.
The top five competitors in round 9 on Red Hill on corrected time, all on the 5.1 km Orange 1 course, were:
- 125: Martin Dent 27 min 32 sec.
- 124: David Stocks (Training map) 32 min 06 sec.
- 123: Toni Brown 43 min 36 sec.
- 122: Andrew Kerr 33 min 11 sec
- 121: Ryan Stocks (Training map) 31 min 53 sec
The Series will resume on Wednesday 30 January with round 10 on Black Mountain. While Dent will be the co-course planner and the best six scores will count after the event, as he has a good sixth score of 121, he is well placed to retain his lead.
The final event will be round 15, a Sprint Distance event throughout Radford College on 6 March. With the best eight scores to count, any of the top four could win the Series.
